The Philippines recorded 2,500 new COVID-19 cases from March 24 to March 30, 2022, the Department of Health (DOH) announced Friday.

Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire said this brings the total number of confirmed cases in the country to 3,677,924, of which 40,412 are active.

Of the active cases, Vergeire said 38,989 are asymptomatic, mild, and moderate while 1,423 cases are in severe or critical condition.

Recoveries and fatalities were recorded at 3,578,387 and 59,125, respectively.

“Nakikita po natin ang pagbaba ng bilang ng mga kaso na nasa 24% noong nakaraang linggo at tinatayang nasa 364 cases per day ngayong linggo,” Vergeire said in a media briefing.

“Mabagal na po ang pagbaba dahil una sa lahat, mababa na po ang ating mga kaso sa iba’t ibang lugar sa ating mga bansa,” she added.

She said the decline in cases can be observed for all island groups in the country.

As of March 31, she said 65.9 million Filipinos are now fully vaccinated against COVID-19 or 73% of the target population.

Meanwhile, 71.2 million or 79% have received at least one dose while 12 million have received boosters shots.

Among the pediatric population, 933,000 are now fully vaccinated while 8.9 million of the adolescent population have been inoculated against the illness.—LDF, GMA News
