Active COVID-19 cases down to 23,199, lowest since January 2, 2022

The Department of Health (DOH) recorded 272 new COVID-19 cases on Good Friday, bringing the total nationwide tally to 3,682,623.

According to the latest DOH bulletin, the country’s active cases dropped to 23,199 — the lowest number of active cases reported since January 2.

A total of 960 new patients, meanwhile, have recovered from the dreaded coronavirus, increasing the country’s recoveries to 3,599,468. The death toll now stands at 59, 956.

Metro Manila recorded the highest Covid-19 cases in the last two weeks with 1,177 infections. It was followed by Region IV-A (CALABARZON) with 473 fresh cases and Central Luzon with 343 fresh infections.

As for the occupancy rate, the DOH said the Philippines remains at a safe level with 16.2 percent or 32, 561 occupied beds nationwide.

The health department also said 16, 987 individuals got tested for COVID-19 on Thursday, April 14. —NB, GMA News
