PPCRV seeks more volunteers for Eleksyon 2022

Two weeks before Election Day, the Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting (PPCRV) is still seeking more volunteers to help monitor Eleksyon 2022.

The accredited citizen's arm of the Commission on Elections is looking for volunteers who can serve as poll watchers, voter's assistance desk staff, and encoders, according to a report by Mariz Umali on GMA News' Unang Balita on Wednesday.

The organization is targeting to have 5,000 volunteers for Eleksyon 2022.

"Napakahalaga po gawa ng 'yung mga volunteers natin, 'yan ang gagawin nating una, tagabantay ng ating mga balota, tagaseguro na ang democratic process natin ay nasusunod," PPCRV legal counsel and spokesperson Atty. Van dela Cruz said.

(Having volunteers is important because one, our volunteers will first safeguard our ballots and ensure that the democratic process will be followed.)

"And pangalawa rin, kasama ng training ng ating volunteers ay kung paano nila labanan 'yung mga misinformation o disinformation," he added.

(And second, part of the training of our volunteers is how they will address misinformation or disinformation.)

As the accredited citizen's arm of the poll body, the PPCRV will receive the fourth copy of the election return.

Part of PPCRV's tasks is to ensure that such copy matches the data in the electronic election return.

The PPCRV said it has already coordinated with the Armed Forces of the Philippines and the Philippine National Police as part of its preparation for Eleksyon 2022.

Those interested to become PPCRV volunteers may go to the parish near them or visit ppcrv.org or ivolunteer.com.ph—KG, GMA News
