The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) has already prepared measures to secure the inauguration of Vice President-elect Sara Duterte in Davao City, a military official said Thursday.

At the Laging Handa public briefing, AFP Civil Relations Service group commander Major Cenon Pancito said the Presidential Security Group (PSG) is in charge of the event.

“Ito naman pong ganitong mga bagay ay regular nang ginagawa ng ating AFP. May nakalatag na po ito na mga measures. Primarily naka-task naman ito sa PSG,” he said.

(These things are regularly done by our AFP. Measures have already been laid out. Primarily, the PSG is in charge of this.)

Pancito assured the public that the AFP ensures peace and order for the people and the newly elected leaders.

“Ang palagi naming gustong sabihin sa mamamayan is that we will ensure the peace and order ay talagang matamasa ng ating mamamayan lalo na dito na mayroong mandato ang mga bagong lider natin,” he said.

(We wanted to tell the public that we will ensure the peace and order will be felt by our countrymen especially that we have our new leaders.)

Earlier, Duterte, outgoing Davao City mayor, set her inauguration date on June 19, several days ahead of the start of her term as the country's second highest elected official on June 30.
