President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr.'s completion of his Cabinet members is already on its final evaluation stage, Press Secretary Atty. Trixie Cruz-Angeles said Monday.

Speaking to reporters during her first Palace briefing, Cruz-Angeles said there is no deadline for the selection of some of the Cabinet posts which have not been filled yet.

"Wala pong binibigay sa amin na sinasabi nilang deadline, ang sinasabi is masuri talaga ang pag-evaluate nila dito sa mga kandidato para sa mga position. I understand that this is going through the final evaluation stage so I don't think it will take too long," Cruz-Angeles said.

(There's no deadline. What we're saying is that we're evaluating the candidates very well.)

So far, Marcos has not designated chiefs yet for the Department of Health, Department of Energy, Department of the Environment and Natural Resources,  Department of Science and Technology, and the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD).

Cruz-Angeles said the posts, especially that of the DOH and DOE secretaries, should be evaluated well.

The country is still recovering from the threat of the COVID-19 pandemic, with the DOH seeing an increase of infections in the past days. On the other hand, issues on oil and petroleum have also affected consumers because of increasing prices of fuel products.

"The President is quite aware and in fact, one of the priorities, is managing the pandemic so you must also understand that this is so important, they must look very closely and carefully at the candidates," Cruz-Angeles said. — RSJ, GMA News
