New COVID-19 cases drop to 1,600, active tally at 27,257

The Philippines recorded 1,600 new COVID-19 infections on Tuesday, down from 3,119 the day before, according to the Department of Health.
 

Tuesday’s tally of newly reported cases was the lowest since September 13 (1,574). Active cases also decreased to 27,257 from 27,686 on Monday.
 
The country’s total caseload is now 3,925,326.
 
The National Capital Region had the highest number of cases in the past two weeks with 11,538, followed by Calabarzon with 4,088, Central Luzon with 2,383, Davao Region with 1,274, and Western Visayas with 937.

A total of 1,995 new recoveries were recorded, increasing the recovery tally to 3,835,449.
 
The previous five days had seen more new cases than new recoveries.
 
Thirty-three new fatalities were reported, pushing the death toll to 62,620.
 
The country's bed occupancy rate as of Monday was 27.8%, with 7,905 beds being occupied while 20,528 were vacant.
 
A total of 18,238 individuals were tested on Monday, while 341 testing laboratories submitted data. — VBL, GMA News
