DOH reports 1,347 new COVID-19 cases; active tally drops to 26,792

The Department of Health (DOH) on Tuesday reported 1,347 new COVID-19 cases, pushing the country’s caseload to 3,957,112.

According to the DOH’s data, this was the second day straight of fewer than 2,000 COVID-19 cases recorded.

The Health department said the active tally also went down to 26,792 from 28,111 on Monday.

The National Capital Region (NCR) was the region with the most cases in the recent two weeks with 13,559 infections recorded. It was followed by Calabarzon with 5,616, Central Luzon with 2,836, Davao Region with 1,360, and Soccsksargen with 747.

The nationwide recovery tally climbed by 2,637 to 3,867,242.

Meanwhile, the death toll increased to 63,078 with 36 new fatalities recorded.

The Health department said at least 6,969 beds were occupied, while 21,675 were vacant as the bed occupancy in the country stood at 24.3% as of Sunday, October 2.

A total of 15,956 individuals were tested, while 343 testing labs submitted data as of Monday, October 3. — Richa Noriega/BM, GMA News
