Philippines logs 1,063 new COVID-19 cases; active tally at 18,647

The Department of Health (DOH) on Sunday recorded 1,063 new COVID-19 cases, increasing the total nationwide caseload to 4,025,917.

This is the fourth straight day that more than 1,000 new cases were recorded, with 1,122 new infections tallied on Saturday.

The department recorded fewer than 1,000 new cases on November 16 with 810 infections.

Based on the DOH’s latest data, the country’s active cases decreased to 18,647 from 18,864 on Saturday. For almost three weeks, active cases in the country were lower than 20,000.

The number of recoveries climbed to 3,942,794 while the death toll rose by 8 to 64,476.

According to the DOH, the regions with the most cases in the last two weeks were the National Capital Region with 3,551 followed by Calabarzon with 2,062 and Western Visayas with 1,587.

The Health Department said at least 10,904 individuals were tested, while 319 testing labs submitted data on November 19.

DOH also said that the bed occupancy in the country was 23.2%, with 6,544 beds occupied, while 21,610 were vacant. — DVM, GMA Integrated News
