PPA probes unauthorized charging of insurance in ports

By JOAHNA LEI CASILAO,GMA Integrated News

The Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) has started investigating incidents where passengers were charged with additional fees for insurance in ports, PPA spokesperson Eunice Samonte said Thursday.

(Actually, we have cases under investigation because of what we’re hearing. This is based on the complaints of the public and on our Facebook page.)

Samonte reminded the public that there are no charges for the insurance as it is already included in what the passengers paid for.

So the insurance is already included and no more fees should be charged),” she said.

She also urged the public to immediately report such cases to the port police.

If someone asks them to pay for port insurance, they should immediately inform our police officers),” she said.—AOL, GMA Integrated News
