NGCP: Luzon grid under yellow alert

The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) on Monday placed the Luzon power grid under yellow alert, following the forced outage of four power plants.

In an advisory, the NGCP said the Luzon grid will be on yellow alert from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

A yellow alert indicates that the grid has thin reserves based on the difference between supply and demand.

“Four power plants are on forced outage, while three others are running on derated capacities, for a total of 2,080 MW unavailable to the grid,” the NGCP said.

The Luzon grid has an available capacity of 11,572 MW against a peak demand of 10,548 MW.—AOL, GMA Integrated News
