DOH logs 1,088 new COVID-19 cases; active tally down to 15,229

The Department of Health (DOH) on Tuesday logged 1,088 new COVID-19 cases, while the active tally went down to 15,229.

This was the 13th day straight that more than 1,000 COVID-19 cases were recorded, with the nationwide COVID-19 tally increasing to 4,118,013.

The active infections dropped to 15,229 cases. According to the GMA Integrated News Research, this is the lowest tally in four days, but also the fifth straight day of more than 15,000 active cases logged.

At least 1,754 new recoveries were reported, bringing the country’s recovery tally to 4,036,331.

This was also the fourth day straight of more than 1,500 new recoveries recorded and the highest in 21 reporting days.

Meanwhile, the death tally remained at 66,453 for the 10th straight day.

The National Capital Region (NCR) reported the highest number of cases in the past 14 days with 9,416, followed by Calabarzon with 5,077, Central Luzon with 1,687, Western Visayas with 1,173, and Bicol Region with 762.

Among cities and provinces, Quezon City had the most new cases in the last 14 days with 2,242, followed by Cavite and Rizal provinces with 1,618 each; the City of Manila with 1,064; and Laguna province with 1,028.

The Health Department said at least 5,119 beds were occupied, while 20,192 were vacant as the bed occupancy in the country is currently at 20.2% as of Sunday.

Meanwhile, at least 7,900 individuals were tested, while 321 testing labs submitted data as of Monday. — Richa Noriega/BM, GMA Integrated News
