Philippines logs 1,337 new COVID-19 cases; active tally down to 14,398

The Philippines recorded 1,337 new COVID-19 cases on Saturday, bringing the nationwide caseload to 4,147,129, according to the Department of Health (DOH).

The DOH said the country's active cases slightly decreased from 14,888 on Friday to 14,398 on Saturday.

Meanwhile, the nationwide recovery tally increased to 4,066,255 while the death toll remained at 66,476.

The National Capital Region posted the highest number of new cases in the past two weeks with 6,561, followed by Calabarzon with 4,505, Central Luzon with 2,419, Western Visayas with 1,541, and Cagayan Valley with 904.

Among cities and provinces, Quezon City topped the list with 1,590 new cases, followed by Cavite with 1,498, Rizal with 1,023, Laguna with 983, and Bulacan with 979.

As of Friday, the national bed occupancy rate was 21.3%, with 5,384 occupied and 19,941 vacant beds.

A total of 6,921 individuals were tested on Friday, and 308 testing laboratories submitted data. —VBL, GMA Integrated News
