SK president killed in Laguna gun attack —police

The Sangguniang Kabataan president of Lumban, Laguna was killed in a shooting incident on Tuesday, Police Regional Office 4A said Thursday.

Based on a police report, SK president Renzo Matienzo, 26, of Barangay Maytalang was in his bedroom when an attacker shot him several times in the body.

After the attack, the assailant immediately fled, the report said.

The PRO4A Public Information Office said Matienzo was dead on the spot.

The motive behind the crime has yet to be established, it added.

“Still on the process of reviewing CCTVs in the area to possible identify the suspect,” PRO4A PIO head Police Captain Mary Anne Crester Torres told reporters in a message.

Police operatives are conducting pursuit operations to identify and arrest the perpetrator.

On Thursday, Lumban Sangguniang Kabataan extended its condolences to the family of Matienzo.

“You have been a good friend and a great leader to us. You may now rest in peace Renzo L. Matienzo. Our deepest condolences to the family left by Renzo,” the SK said in a Facebook post. —LBG/RSJ, GMA News
