Mother, 2 children dead in Bulacan road crash

A mother and her two children perished in a road accident in Barangay Buliran in San Miguel, Bulacan, on Wednesday, Corrine Catibayan reported on Unang Balita on Thursday.

The three were on their way to the barangay health facility for a vaccine, according to Jonathan Maniquiz, husband and father of the victims.

Jonathan said he was at work when he was informed about the accident involving his family.

The two children died on the spot while their mother perished in a hospital in Cabanatuan. Aside from a grieving husband, she left behind an 8-month-old baby.

“Tatlong kabaong. Napakahirap tanggapin. Mahal na mahal ko ‘yan, ‘di namin alam kung paanong gagawin ngayon, bukas, sa susunod na araw,” Maniquiz said.

The victims were reportedly on board a tricycle when a pickup truck overtook them, causing the tricycle to lose control and got hit by a jeepney.

“Nahagip ‘yung gulong [ng tricycle],” said witness Jimmy Dela Cruz.

(The tricycle’s wheel was hit).

Meanwhile, Maniquiz stated that a complaint will be filed on Thursday against the driver of the jeepney, who is already in police custody. He refused to comment regarding the accident.

“Wala naman siguradong may gusto sa aksidente. Aksidente talaga ang nangyari, pero may namatay eh. Tatlo. Tatlo sa pamilya namin, may nasugatan pa. Dapat may managot,” he said.
