A 30-year-old woman in Barangay Concepcion Pequeña, Naga City, Camarines Sur sustained injuries when she rescued her dog from an approaching train on February 19, 2024.

The woman managed to pull the dog away from the tracks just in time but, in the process, got hit by the moving train. The impact sent her slamming into her mother who was standing nearby.

Still, she was lucky enough to sustain only minor injuries. She and her mother were taken immediately to the hospital.

"Pigsi-save niya na magbalyo duman itong saiyang ido so nahagop siya, by the way sideswipe lang naman, si kusog kan dalagan kang train na ini kang nahagop siya. Nahagop siya, paglitong niya tuminama siya duman sa ina niya," PMAJ. Juvy Llunar, Station Commander of NCPO Station 2, said.

The Philippine National Railway (PNR) management extended assistance to the two women.

The PNR management reminded residents living near the tracks to observe a certain distance to prevent potential accidents.

PNR said structures, including residences and other obstructions near their right of way, need to be relocated as part of the South Long Haul Project. —GMA Regional TV
