Metro Pacific Tollways says toll revenues grew 8% in H1 2026

Pangilinan-led Metro Pacific Tollways Corp. (MPTC) said Tuesday it saw a single-digit growth in its top line in the first six months of 2026.

In a news release, MPCT said its toll revenues rose 8% to P19.6 billion in January to June 2026.

The company said its first-half performance was driven by the continued expansion of its toll-road network in the Philippines and Indonesia as well as contributions from overseas investments and new road sections coming into service, despite domestic traffic softening by 1% during the period, averaging 715,200 daily vehicle entries.

Across its international portfolio, however, MPTC average daily vehicle entries still increased 1% to about 2.5 million, with Indonesia posting 3% traffic growth to 1.67 million entries a day.

Nevertheless, the toll roads operator said its January to June 2026 revenue growth was supported by the opening of CAVITEX C5 Link Segment 3B Phase 1 and CALAX Subsection 3, which made more portions of the company’s network available to motorists.

In Indonesia, stable logistics activity, scheduled tariff adjustments and improved access to toll roads amid continuing road works also supported performance, it said.

MPTC said its share in the net earnings of equity investments in Indonesia likewise contributed to higher core profit.

The company said its regional footprint now covers more than 1,100 kilometers of toll roads across the Philippines, Indonesia and Vietnam.

“Our first-half results reflect a broader and still-expanding regional business. Traffic in the Philippines is only one part of the picture. New road openings, stronger Indonesian operations and our equity investments all contributed to the period’s performance,” MPTC said.

MPTC has expanded its toll road portfolio in Indonesia in late 2024 with a strategic investment in PT Jasamarga Transjawa Tol (JTT).

JTT manages a 676-kilometer network of 13 strategic toll roads across West Java, Central Java, and East Java.

The company added it also continues to invest heavily in Philippine infrastructure as capital expenditures reached P7.6 billion in the first half, albeit 5% lower year-on-year as completion schedules for ongoing projects were affected by right-of-way and related construction issues.

MPCT said its current works include NLEX Segment 8.2 Section 1A (Mindanao Avenue to Quirino Highway), the remaining CALAX subsections, and the CAVITEX-CALAX Link Expressway, with remaining works on CAVITEX C5 Link Segment 3B Phase 2, and the NLEX Connector.

The company noted that toll adjustments are implemented only after regulatory approval and are intended to support the operation, maintenance and continuing development of expressways under their respective concession agreements.

MPTC added it has provided toll relief to qualified public transport and freight operators, including assistance worth more than P2 million a day under transport-support programs.

“Our priority remains the same: keep our roads safe and reliable, finish critical links as quickly as right-of-way and construction conditions allow, and deliver better mobility for motorists, commuters and businesses,” it said. —AOL, GMA News
