GCash advances financial literacy through in-app AI-powered 'Pera Coach'

Mobile wallet GCash is utilizing artificial intelligence (AI) to make financial advice and literacy more accessible to Filipinos.

In a news release on Friday, GCash said its in-app "Pera Coach" is an AI-powered tool designed to provide practical guidance on common money questions in a simple and conversational way.

The mobile wallet said the "Pera Coach" uses generative AI to engage its users in conversations concerning daily financial decisions—from deciding whether to make a purchase to managing a paycheck, building savings, or dealing with family financial responsibilities.

Questions such as "i-checkout ko ba o i-check ko muna ang balance ko? (should I checkout or should I first check my account balance?)" can be part of conversations on the AI-powered feature.

By turning familiar situations into conversations about money, GCash said "Pera Coach" seeks to make concepts such as budgeting, saving, responsible spending and financial preparedness easier to grasp without making users feel as though they are attending a financial lecture.

The mobile wallet said the AI-powered tool is also designed to accommodate the way Filipinos naturally communicate, allowing users to seek guidance in English, Filipino, Taglish and major Philippine languages. — VDV, GMA News
