Heavy traffic at NLEX, some parts not passable amid Habagat

Motorists were stuck in heavy traffic on parts of the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) on Saturday as some sections were impassable for vehicles, especially in Bulacan amid heavy downpour due to the southwest monsoon or Habagat.

In its road and traffic condition report as of 5 p.m., the NLEX Corporation reported that the northbound Lanes 2, 3 and 4 in Meycauayan, Bulacan were not passable, with water building up at the middle and rightmost lanes due to flooding at the local road caused by the overflow of the Meycauayan River.

Traffic was at "stop and go" or at a running speed of only 1 to 10 kph.

Super Radyo dzBB's Allan Gatus posted online video of some commuters opting to walk under the rain with their umbrellas as traffic ground to a near-halt.

Class 1 vehicles are unable to traverse the Libtong Exit, with heavy traffic due to flooding at the local road.

Further, the southbound lane 4 in Meycauayan was not passable due to flooding, with approximately 5 to 10 kph running speed.

Water buildup at the rightmost and middle lanes was also seen at the San Simon Interchange.
