Will Ashley, Rochelle Pangilinan bag awards at 9th Eddys

Will Ashley and Rochelle Pangilinan took home awards at the 9th Entertainment Editors' Choice (The Eddys) Awards by the Society of Philippine Entertainment Editors (SPEEd).

At the awarding ceremony held at the Ceremonial Hall of Newport World Resorts on Sunday night, Will took home the Best Supporting Actor award for his performance in "Bar Boys: After School," alongside Rico Blanco, who was recognized for "Manila Finest."

Rochelle won the Best Supporting Actress award for her role in "Child No. 82," while former GMA Showbiz reporter Lhar Santiago was honored with the Manny Pichel Award.

On Instagram, Rochelle excitedly exclaimed, "OMG! Nanalo ako!"

"Napakalaking karangalan na manalo ng BEST SUPPORTING ACTRESS sa The 9th Eddys Entertainment Editors’ Choice," she added as she congratulated her fellow nominees and thanked "Child No. 82" family.

Meanwhile, according to Aubrey Carampel's "24 Oras" report on Monday, "The Master Cutter" star Rio Locsin received the Eddys Movie Icon award alongside veteran actors John Arcilla, Edgar Mortiz, and Janice De Belen.

"Isa pong napakalaking karangalan ang magawaran ng ganitong pagkilala sa larangan na halos apat na dekada ko na kinabibilangan," Rio said.

Retired GMA News showbiz reporter Lhar Santiago received the 2026 Manny Pichel Award for his contributions to Philippine entertainment journalism.

"Sa GMA News dun ko masasabi na talagang na-inculcate sa akin ang kahalagahan ng fairness, ng paghanap ng truth, ng integrity pagdating sa broadcast journalism," Lhar said during his speech.

"The Master Cutter" lead star Dingdong Dantes was also present at the awarding ceremony for the launch of a special AVP for a joint project of Aktor PH and the Society of Philippine Entertainment Editors (SPEEd).

Dingdong was among the nominees at the 9th Eddys, including Barbie Forteza, for their respective roles in "Only We Know" and "Kontrabida Academy."

"The fact na na-nominate, sobrang saya-saya ko na, so ayos na 'yun, pero syempre andito rin ako to present something because recently we partnered with SPEEd, kumbaga joint project namin para sa community, para sa industriya," said Dingdong.

The Eddys recognizes excellence and outstanding achievements in Philippine cinema.
