Marikina River at 2nd alarm as more rains from Habagat pour

The second alarm was raised at Marikina River on Saturday afternoon, as more rains poured over Metro Manila due to the Southwest Monsoon (Habagat).

Local authorities hoisted the second alarm at 1:50 p.m. as the water level at the river reached 16.0 meters, according to the Marikina City Public Information Office.

At 2:08 p.m, the water level further rose to 16.1 meters.

The first alarm was raised at 12:17 p.m., meaning residents living near the river should prepare for possible evacuation.

Second alarm means preemptive evacuation will be implemented, while the third alarm signals mandatory evacuation.

A red rainfall warning was raised by PAGASA over Metro Manila at 2 p.m., meaning serious flooding may occur in flood-prone areas. —KG, GMA News
