SC directs corporations to comment on petition vs. TRO on wage hike

The Supreme Court (SC) on Friday said it has directed corporations to comment on a petition to junk orders issued by a Pasig court against the implementation of the P85 minimum wage increase in Metro Manila.

In a press statement, the SC directed Readycon Trading and Construction Corporation, R-II Builders Inc., and the Alliance of Philippine Fishing Federations INc. to comment on the petition within 10 days from receipt of notice.

Aside from this, the SC directed the Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board of the National Capital Region (RTWPB-NCR) and the National Wages and Productivity Commission (NWPC) to submit their comments.

The petition was filed by the Kampihan ng Maralita at Manggagawa (KAMANGGAGAWA) Party-list and others.

In July, the Pasig Regional Trial Court (RTC) issued a temporary restraining order on the implementation of the wage increase.

Following its expiration, the RTC ordered a preliminary injunction on the implementation after the posting of a P10 billion bond.

The petitioners have asked the SC to urgently act on their earlier petition.—AOL, GMA News
