Senator Imee Marcos and President Bongbong Marcos

President Ferdinand ''Bongbong'' Marcos Jr. said he hasn't spoken to his sister, Senator Imee Marcos, for almost three years, noting that the latter has not been attending family gatherings.

This came after Imee described her relationship with her brother as "non-existent."

According to Palace Press Officer Undersecretary Atty. Claire Castro, she asked the President for reaction to his sister's remarks after the UPLIFT meeting on Tuesday morning.

''Yes, immediately after the UPLIFT Committee meeting, I approached the President and asked about this comment or statement of his sister Senator Imee Marcos and he said ‘yes, they haven’t spoken for almost a years, she has not been attending family gatherings, family event,' so iyon po ang sagot ng Pangulo (so that was the President's answer),'' Castro said.

Castro said that based on the President's body language, Marcos is disappointed with his sister's remarks.

''Bago siya kasi sumagot ay pinag-isipan niya talaga, sa aking paningin sa kanyang body language ay disappointed siya sa kanyang nadidinig na mga salita mula sa kanyang kapatid,'' she added.

(Before he answered, he really thought about it. Based on my observation with his body language, he is disappointed with his sister's remarks.)

GMA News Online asked Imee for comment but she has yet to reply as of posting time.

In November of last year, Imee accused her brother of using drugs, an allegation that Malacañang called "desperate."

She also alleged that First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos and some of the President's friends were using illegal drugs.

The senator added that Marcos’ children, including Ilocos Norte 1st District Representative Sandro Marcos, were also drug users, and that they also asked her and other members of the family to use illegal drugs. Sandro denied the allegations, saying there is no basis and no truth to them.

In response to this, Marcos said, ''That lady that you see talking on TV is not my sister.” —with a report from Giselle Ombay/KG/RF, GMA News
