Baste Duterte still PDP Laban president, reacts to being mentioned in VP Sara impeachment trial
Davao City Mayor Sebastian "Baste" Duterte was reelected as the national party president of the Partido Demokratiko Pilipino-Lakas ng Bayan (PDP Laban) on Saturday.
According to a report in 24 Oras Weekend, the election of officers was done during the party's national assembly in Davao City.
Meanwhile, Atty. Jimmy Bondoc was elected as executive vice president.
Senator Christopher "Bong" Go was hailed as PDP Laban's auditor.
When asked by GMA Regional TV for a comment after his name was mentioned by National Bureau of Investigation director Melvin Matibag during the impeachment trial of his sister Vice President Sara Duterte, Baste responded: "They always take it out of context. They're the corniest people."
During the same event, Baste also questioned the government's alleged prioritization of Vice President Sara Duterte's impeachment trial instead of holding accountable those who, he claims, pocketed trillions of pesos from the nation's coffers.
"We are paying our taxes. Saan napupunta ang mga buwis natin? Instead of opening up the Blue Ribbon Committee kung saan nawawala ang trilyon-trilyon nating pera, ano ang priority ng administrasyon ngayon? 'Yung impeachment ng Vice President," he said.
