Detained Senator Jinggoy Estrada arrived at the Cardinal Santos Medical Center in San Juan City on Wednesday for his scheduled knee X-ray.
“Sen Jinggoy is on his way to Cardinal Santos Medical Center for his scheduled knee X-ray,” Estrada’s camp said in a statement earlier in the day.His orthopedic surgeon is expected to brief members of the media after the procedure, Estrada’s camp added.
Estrada arrived at the hospital aboard an ambulance. He was seen limping and wincing while walking towards the entrance of the hospital's emergency room. He was assisted by personnel of the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology.
In an interview with Super Radyo dzBB's Glen Juego, BJMP spokesperson Supt. Jayrex Bustinera clarified that Estrada did not slip in the bathroom of the New Quezon City Jail.
Bustinera said Estrada's knee snapped while he was preparing to go to the hospital. He added that BJMP medical officers immediately helped the senator.

The Sandiganbayan Fifth Division earlier allowed Estrada to leave the New Quezon City Jail to undergo the medical procedure at the private hospital at his own expense.
In a resolution made public Monday, the anti-graft court said Estrada may leave the detention facility at 11 a.m. Wednesday for his 1 p.m. X-ray appointment at the said hospital.
He was ordered to return to the New Quezon City Jail by 3 p.m. the same day upon completion of the necessary medical procedure.
