Magnitude 4.5 earthquake jolts Pugo, La Union

A magnitude 4.5 earthquake struck Pugo, La Union on Thursday afternoon, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS).
PHIVOLCS earlier reported that the temblor occurred in Tuba, Benguet with a depth of 10 kilometers.
The earthquake of tectonic origin was recorded nine kilometers west of Tuba at 2:33 p.m. and occurred at a depth of 11 kilometers.
PHIVOLCS said instrumental intensities were logged in the following areas:
- Intensity V - Baguio City; Tuba, Benguet; Tubao and Pugo, La Union
- Intensity IV- City of San Fernando, Rosario, Naguilian, Bagulin, Bauang, Santo Tomas, Agoo and Caba La Union; Itogon, La Trinidad, Tublay, Sablan, and Kapangan, Benguet; Sison, Pangasinan
- Intensity III - Dagupan City; Pozorrubio, Binalonan, City of Urdaneta, Villasis, Calasiao, Mangaladan, Manaoag, Asingan, Tayug and San Manuel, Pangasinan; Aringay, San Juan, Balaoan, Bangar, and Bacnotan, La Union; Mankayan, Atok and Kabayan, BENGUET; Sagada and Bontoc, Mountain Province
- Intensity II- Lagawe and Banaue, Ifugao
PHIVOLCS said there was no reported damage and no aftershocks.
The tremor caused students and employees of schools that include the University of the Philippines Baguio and the Quezon Elementary School to evacuate after it was felt in Baguio City.—Vince Angelo Ferreras/RF, GMA News
