Magnitude 6.3 earthquake strikes off the coast of Balut Island, Sarangani, Davao Occidental

A magnitude 6.3 earthquake struck southwest of Balut Island, Sarangani, Davao Occidental late Tuesday evening, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) reported.
PHIVOLCS earlier reported that a magnitude 6.5 earthquake occurred with a depth of 10 kilometers.
This is an aftershock of the June 2026 magnitude 7.8 Offshore Sarangani and magnitude 6.5 Offshore Davao Occidental earthquake.
The quake, which occurred at 11:49 p.m., was tectonic in origin with a depth of 33 kilometers.
The earthquake was felt in the following areas:
- Intensity V - Kiamba, Sarangani
- Intensity IV - Palimbang, Sultan Kudarat
- Intensity III - Bagumbayan, Kalamansig, Lebak, President Quirino, and City of Tacurong, Sultan Kudarat; Maluso, Basilan
- Intensity II - Kiblawan, Davao del Sur; Davao City; City of Kidapawan, and M'lang, Cotabato; Columbio, Sultan Kudarat; City of Isabela, Basilan
There are no expected damages and aftershocks, said PHIVOLCS. — BAP, GMA News
