Southwest Monsoon or Habagat to drench Luzon and Visayas on Saturday, Aug. 29, 2026

The Southwest Monsoon, or Habagat, is expected to drench Luzon and Visayas on Saturday, August 29, 2026, the state weather bureau PAGASA said Friday.

According to PAGASA's 4 p.m. weather bulletin, monsoon rains are expected over Pangasinan, La Union, Benguet, Bataan, Zambales, Tarlac, and Occidental Mindoro.

Occasional rains are expected in Metro Manila, Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, Abra, Nueva Ecija, Pampanga, Bulacan, Rizal, Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, and Oriental Mindoro.

Meanwhile, the rest of Luzon and Visayas are expected to experience cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms.

Mindanao is forecast to be affected by localized thunderstorms, bringing partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms.

As of 3 p.m., a Low Pressure Area (LPA) was estimated at 560 east-northeast of Itbayat, Batanes.

Moderate to strong winds and moderate to rough coastal waters are expected in Luzon, with waves running from 1.5 meters to 3.4 meters.

Light to moderate winds and slight to moderate coastal waters are expected in the rest of the country, with waves running from 0.6 meters to 2.1 meters.

At the PAGASA Science Garden weather station in Diliman, Quezon City, the highest temperature recorded on Friday reached 31.0 degrees Celsius at 12 p.m., while the lowest temperature was logged at 26.4 degrees Celsius at 5 a.m.
