Easterlies to bring rains over Southern Luzon, Visayas, Mindanao

Easterlies are forecast to bring rain showers over Southern Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao, according to PAGASA.

In its 4 p.m. weather bulletin, PAGASA said the easterlies could bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms over the Bicol Region, Eastern Visayas, Caraga, and Davao Region.

Also known as the easterly trade winds or “silanganin,” the easterlies refer to winds that originate from the east.

Meanwhile, Metro Manila and the rest of the country are expected to experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms due to localized thunderstorms.

Affected areas of the habagat and localized thunderstorms may experience possible flash floods or landslides.

Light to moderate winds and slight to moderate seas are expected nationwide, with waves running from 0.6 to 1.5 meters in extreme Northern Luzon and 0.6 to 1.2 meters across the rest of the country.

At the PAGASA Science Garden weather station in Diliman, Quezon City, the highest temperature recorded on Friday reached 32.9 degrees Celsius at 11 a.m., while the lowest temperature was logged at 26 degrees Celsius at 5:00 a.m.

Sunrise on Saturday will be at 5:27 a.m. — BAP, GMA News
