The Taste of Manila in Toronto celebrated its 7th anniversary with virtual event last August 29. 
Their annual event, which used to fill the streets of Toronto with tens of thousands of people, has gone virtual to adjust to the new normal amidst the pandemic this year.
 
Among those showcased at the virtual festival were local performers and Kapuso artists, Asia's Romantic Balladeer Christian Bautista, The Clash Season One grand champion Golden Cañedo, and The Clash Season One finalist, Garrett Bolden. Special messages were also given by Ontario Premier Doug Ford, Toronto Mayor John Tory, Philippine Consul General in Toronto Mr. Orentes Castro, Mr. Francisco Noel Fernandez III, Chargé d’affaires ad interim (Embassy of Canada)and DTI OTOP Assistant Secretary Demphna Du-Naga for the community.
 
Meanwhile, to kickstart the Labor Day weekend celebrations, "Fiesta Filipino YYC" in Calgary, Alberta, also celebrated its 6th anniversary, virtually, for the two-day event held last September 5 and 6. Over two dozen local businesses, 50 local Filipino-Canadian artists, and 100 volunteers participated at the event.
 
The celebration was graced with dignitaries including Minister Leela Aheer who also performed the Filipino song "Dahil Sa 'Yo" in honor of Fiesta Filipino. Other special guests include DJ Loonyo and Kapuso artists, Golden Cañedo and Garrett Bolden as wellKapuso stars Solenn Heussaff and Lovi Poe also sent video greetings for their fans as they reminisced their past trips to Calgary. 
 
And lastly, despite the limitations on these challenging times, "Food Trip: A Taste of Home" went ahead with its 3rd anniversary celebration in Winnipeg, Manitoba last September 6 and 7It continued to receive overwhelming support from the Filipino community as a dozen food vendors took part in the event to satisfy the community's cravings. Kapuso stars Solenn Heussaff and Lovi Poe also sent out video greetings as they thanked Food Trip's organizers for taking care of them when they performed last 2018 and 2019.
 
We are in unprecedented times indeed, but Filipinos across Canada do not seem to waver with their support for one another during these times.
