Marian Rivera starrer 'Balota' dominates Netflix charts globally

The film Balota, starring Marian Rivera, is not only a hit in the Philippines, but also internationally. 

s seen on GMA Pictures’ recent post, Balota landed on the Global Top 10 Non-English Movies on the popular streaming platform Netflix, earning the number one spot in the Philippines, No. 4 in Qatar, No. 5 in UAE, and No. 9 in Bahrain from January 27 to February 2.

Aside from this, Marian Rivera was one of the recipients of the Best Actress award at the Cinemalaya 2024 for her notable performance as Emmy in Balota.

The Kapuso Primetime Queen also received various recognitions for her performance in the said film, including the Best Actress award at the 3rd Gawad Dangal Filipino Awards and the Excellence in Performance award at the 4th Primetime Media Choice Awards. 

Directed by Kip Oebanda, Balota tells the story of a land-grabbing tycoon and a former male sexy actor who is locked in a tight race for the mayoral seat of a small town.

Emmy (Marian Rivera), a teacher who serves in the elections, runs into the wilderness to protect a ballot box, containing the last copy of the election results, when violence erupts in their town.
