Multi-awarded movie producer GMA Pictures has unveiled its next film that will tackle one of the darkest periods in Philippine media history.
Directed by Carl Joseph Papa, the film-making arm of GMA Network will soon bring to the big screen the movie 58th, a movie about the bloody Maguindanao massacre. This is considered as the world's worst single-day murder of media workers and the worst case of election-related violence in the Philippines.
Part of this movie project are versatile TV-movie star Glaiza De Castro and the late actor-director Ricky Davao.
On GMA Pictures' Instagram page, 58th brings to life the story of photojournalist Reynaldo “Bebot” Momay and his daughter Reynafe Castillo.
The post reads, “It has been 16 years since the Maguindanao Massacre, the deadliest attack on journalists in history. Fifty-seven individuals, including 32 journalists, lost their lives. Yet for Reynafe Castillo, daughter of photojournalist Reynaldo “Bebot” Momay, the story has never felt complete. With her father's body never recovered, she continues her long fight for answers and for his recognition as the tragedy's 58th victim.
“To honor the victims and bring Bebot Momay's story to light, GMA Public Affairs and GMA Pictures present '58th,' directed by Carl Joseph Papa.”
