A man died after he was hit by a tricycle when he crossed the street in Mabini, Batangas.

CCTV footage from a nearby power plant showed the victim crossing the street to a truck. When he tried to cross again to go back to where he came from, a passing tricycle suddenly appeared and hit him, causing him to fall to the road.

Police suspect that the tricycle may have failed to notice the victim.

Arwin Baby Caimbon, Chief of Mabini Police Station, said.

The victim was rushed to the hospital but was declared dead on arrival.

As of this writing, the tricycle driver is in the temporary custodial facility of the Mabini Police Station, facing charges of reckless imprudence resulting in homicide.

The victim’s family and the tricycle driver are yet to give a statement.

Police remind the public of the importance of caution and alertness while on the road.

“Laging mag-iingat [at] laging alerto kapag nagmamaneho.
