The railings along a creek in Barangay San Miguel, part of the Bicol River in Milaor, Camarines Sur, have been broken and stolen, raising concerns among residents.
The constant issue of missing railings dates back to 2019 when repairs began.
According to councilwoman Angel Briones, the contractor faced challenges due to the lack of power supply, resorting to generators for welding, which affected the quality of work.
“Generator kasi mayong connection from CASURECO (Camarines Sur Electric Cooperative) kaito, so naggagamit sinda nin generator para ma-welding lang ito. So kaya nahiling mi na garo dae siya luto, kumbaga dae matatag itong pakagibo [o] paka-welding,” Briones said.
The barangay plans to repair or extend the railings.
Authorities have alerted local junk shops about the possibility of purchasing stolen railings.
