The Cagayan de Oro City Local Environment and Natural Resources Office (CLENRO) has removed the water hyacinths that have grown abundantly along the Cagayan de Oro River as the city braces for La Niña.

The presence of water hyacinths or water lilies may cause the river to overflow as the lilies can create blockage and disrupt the natural flow of the water.

CLENRO is calling on other groups and organizations willing to lend a hand to help in the clearing efforts.

The clearing operation is also part of the celebration of Environment Month.
