Authorities called for responsible driving anew after two teenage cousins, 12 and 17 years old, died after the motorcycle they were riding crashed into an electric post in Barangay Guibel, San Jacinto, Pangasinan.
Both victims were thrown off their vehicle. The impact left them with severe head injuries.
Neither of the two was wearing a helmet.
Police said the driver was on his way to meet someone in San Fabian when he lost control of the vehicle.
"Nakita natin sa CCTV (closed circuit television), parang nawalan ng kontrol ang driver; dire-diretso siya sa may poste, at mayroon ding nagsabi na mabilis silang magpatakbo," PCPT Vladimir Lalas, Deputy Chief of San Jacinto Police Station, said.
Vladimir urged the public to be careful when driving, especially at night.
"Mag-ingat tayo sa pagmamaneho lalong-lalo kung gabi, iwasan nating mag-drive ng nakainom," he said.
