The power rate imposed by the Davao Light and Power Company Inc. (Davao Light) has gone down by P0.22 per kilowatt-hour (kWh) in January 2025.

From P9.21/kWh last December 2024, the electricity rate is now P8.99/kWh.

This means a household with an average consumption of 200/kWh will experience a decrease of P43 from its previous billing.

The rate is applicable from January 11 to February 10, 2025 bill.

The decrease in the power rate is due to the low market prices in the Philippine Wholesale Electricity Spot Market in Mindanao.

However, Davao Light explained that monthly rate adjustments are still expected since market prices also change.

“But duha man gud ka factor ang gina-consider sa rate, the consumption and the rate per kilowhatt hour. Consumption is beyond our control… ang naga-control ana is the costumer so sila ang nasayod kung pila ang ilang number of hours paggamit sa ilang aircon, electric fan ug uban pang appliances,” Davao Light Spokesperson, Fermin Edillon, said.

Consumers are still urged to manage their consumption to avoid high electricity bill.
