After years of struggling with muddy, flood-prone roads, residents of Sitio Anyani, Barangay Malabago, in Mangaldan, Pangasinan, finally have a concrete road with a covered drainage system.

The project includes a 55-meter-long concrete road and a 41-meter drainage system, which addresses the persistent flooding issue caused by the area’s low elevation.

Barangay Chairperson Myla Muyargas said they sought help from the municipal government.

“Kaming mga council, nagpunta kay mayor. Sinabi namin ‘yung problema, agad naman tinugunan ng ating mayor. Nagawa po ‘yun with drainage and cover,” she said.

Residents, like Marvi Cabrera, are relieved to see the improvements.

“Maganda na rin po, semento. Kasi madumi talaga po dito noon. Lupa, maputik, nakakadiri pag daan dito pag umulan. Kasi po ‘yung nga po, madumi, dinadaanan namin tubig,” she said.

Some residents have also started filling their yards with soil to match the new road’s level.

The project has not only improved mobility but also enhanced sanitation, bringing much-needed relief to the community.
