In line with the celebration of the “Kadaugan sa Mactan (Victory at Mactan),” an Eskrima Festival and Tournament is held in Lapu-Lapu City beginning April 21, 2025.
Over 800 members of the Eskrima Club from 10 school districts of the Department of Education (DepEd) Lapu-Lapu City Division participated in the tournament.
The tournament started afternoon on April 22, 2025; a championship match is set on the following day, and a cultural show in the evening.

Jonel Pepito, arnis coach of DepEd Lapu-Lapu City Division, has aspired to promote wider and deeper understanding of eskrima, and foster deeper love of Filipino martial arts, among students.
Assistant Schools Division Superintendent, Dr. Ronald Ferrer, said that there is a special arrangement for teaching personnel who assist their students in the festival and tournament to ensure they get to enjoy the event while on their 30-day uninterrupted flexible vacation without school-related commitments, based on DepEd order.
Based on the order, teachers may schedule their 30-day uninterrupted vacation beginning April 16, 2025 to June 1, 2025.
