A senior citizen and a member of the LGBTQ+ community in Lapu-Lapu City received P20,000 and P10,000 cash, respectively for joining the “Operation Tulî” program of the City Government.

On the second day of the free circumcision program carried out in Barangay Gun-ob, another batch of about a thousand children were accompanied by their parents to the Hoops Dome to avail of the program.

At about noontime on May 20, 2025, the number of circumcised children reached about 1,000 on the first day of the operation.

As uncircumcised senior citizens and persons 20 years old and above have been encouraged to be bold enough to come forward and avail of the free service, a special lane has been created for them by the Lapu-Lapu City Health Office.

One of those who availed of the special lane is a 67-year-old resident of Zone Lambay, Barangay Kalawisan. It was learned that the person is single.

He received P20,000 cash bonus.

Further, a 23-year-old construction worker, a resident of Barangay Bankal has also mustered strength to participate in the program.

In the afternoon, a 34-year-old member of the LGBT community, a resident of Barangay Mactan, availed of the "Operation Tulî."

Aside from free medicines, the construction worker and the LGBT member received P10,000 cash each for being courageous.

In the Philippines, circumcision is a social norm. It is a common practice for boys to get circumcised early on in life, that is why uncircumcised individuals have to deal with social stigma of being perceived as “unclean and unacceptable.”

Furthermore, children who availed of the program also received free medicines, ice cream, snack items, and family food boxes.

The third staging of the program is set on May 30, 2025.

Operation Tulî will be taken to Olango Island on June 3, 2025.
