For over a decade, the Motag Living Museum in Boracay Island in Malay town, Province of Aklan has offered guests the experience of a lifetime via traditional Filipino activities such as plowing fields, harrowing, and planting rice; grating coconuts, weaving, hopping on a carabao ride, among others.
On June 24, 2025, Department of Tourism Secretary Christina Frasco visited Motag Living Museum.
"Secretary Frasco’s positive feedback signaled an open opportunity for strengthening the promotion of the Motag Living Museum and similar cultural destinations, aligning with the national thrust to develop sustainable and community-based tourism," according to the Malay-Boracay Tourism Office.
In her post, Frasco said that "stepping into the Motag Living Museum in Aklan is like stepping into the heart of tradition—an immersive experience where we witnessed the daily lives of our ancestors from planting rice, weaving nipa, grinding by stone, and appreciating the craftsmanship and simplicity of rural Filipino life."
"Here, culture is not confined to memory—it is lived, shared, and honored. The Motag Living Museum is proof that tourism can preserve, honor, and sustain our roots—while empowering communities through meaningful, heritage-based experiences," Frasco added.
The Motag Living Museum offers hands-on activities for all ages that bring the past to life via tours from Tuesday to Sunday, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The museum is situated about 10 minutes from Caticlan Airport or 30 minutes from Boracay (Cagban Port).
