A 78-year-old woman was injured after a motorcycle sideswiped her accidentally while she was crossing a pedestrian lane along MacArthur Highway in Barangay Telabastagan, City of San Fernando, Pampanga.
Closed circuit television (CCTV) footage showed the woman, Conchita Rivera, walking on the marked lane when the motorcycle suddenly hit her. This caused her to fall to the pavement.
Authorities responded quickly and brought her to a hospital for medical treatment. According to police, the motorcyclist, a 34-year-old man, also suffered minor injuries.
Initial investigation showed the rider failed to see the woman because the area was lit poorly.
Fernando Tolentino, Station Commander of CSFP Substation 4, said.
Police reminded the public, both drivers and pedestrians, to stay alert on the road, especially at night and in areas with high foot traffic.
No formal statement has been released by either party involved.
