At least 17 houses were destroyed by a fire that broke out in Barangay Lahug, Cebu City, while a separate fire struck an establishment in Barangay Sambag Uno.

The fire broke out past 8 p.m. on July 27, 2025 in Sitio Lower La Guerta.

As the fire struck at nighttime, most of the residents were already asleep. They woke up to a huge blaze, ran out of their houses for safety, leaving all of their belongings, including valuables, behind.

Rolando Rosales, a resident, said he lives near the house where the fire broke out. He surmised that the fire could have been caused by electrical faulty.

The fire trucks were reported to have had a hard time in firefighting due to narrow alleyways.

The fire left behind P750,000 in estimated damages, according to SF02 Wendell Villanueva, spokesman of the Cebu City Fire Office.

Meanwhile, another fire struck an establishment for rent.

The fire broke out dawn on July 26, 2025 in Barangay Sambag Uno, Cebu City.  

No destruction was done to nearby houses as the fire was controlled immediately.
