A tricycle full of stolen construction materials led to the arrest of a suspect of a series of robbery incidents at a warehouse inside a subdivision in Barangay Malabago, Mangaldan, Pangasinan.
Authorities said the suspects used a tricycle to transport stolen vehicle parts, a roll of chicken wire fence, and other construction supplies. The materials were loaded in the tricycle's passenger seat and top load carrier.
Barangay Malabago officials and tanods caught the suspects in the act during their third attempt to rob the same warehouse, which had already been broken into twice before.
“Binantayan talaga ng mga opisyal ng barangay para ma-check talaga,” PLTCOL. Perlito Tuayon, chief of Mangaldan Police Station, said.
Barangay watchmen acted on orders from their barangay captain to keep watch after previous thefts.
“Sabi ni Kapitan, bantayan namin, manmanan namin kaya hanggang inabot kami ng madaling araw para lang ma-confirm,” Barangay Chief Watcman Romeo Ferrer said.
Police arrested one suspect, while another managed to escape. They will also file charges against the subdivision’s security guard who allowed the tricycle to enter allegedly.
“Pinalampas ng gwardiya ‘yung tricycle nong pumasok, doon, tapos dumating kami doon bigla nang tumakbo ‘yung guard,” Tuayon added.
The arrested suspect refused to comment. Meanwhile, the subdivision’s management has yet to release an official statement.
