The Mangaldan Water District (MAWAD) assured the public that their water remains safe for use despite heavy flooding affecting Barangay Anolid in Mangaldan, Pangasinan for nearly a week.

MAWAD said none of their water reservoirs were flooded, and all water pipes in submerged areas were sealed. This ensured no contamination reached their water sources.

"Ang ating mga pumping station ay elevated. Even ang ating ground area [ay] sealed lahat, kaya safe na safe po ang ating mga tubig," Aira Jane Perez, Senior Corporate Accountant of MAWAD, said.

Residents were grateful that water service continued without disruption, even when their homes were under floodwater.

“Dati kapag baha, wala na rin kaming supply ng tubig. Kaya naisip namin baka ngayon din. Mabuti at hindi naman,” Vicky Corpuz, a resident, said.

Some residents, however, expressed concern about potential damage to water meters submerged in floodwater. They feared this might lead to unexpected increases in their water bills.

But MAWAD said the meters are protected by sealed meter boxes. They said unless the meters are cracked or damaged, they won’t malfunction. In case moisture does get inside, it will dry up naturally once the weather improves.
