Various products made from the ubiquitous coconut - deemed the tree of life - were displayed in a fair at the Iloilo Provincial Capitol.
Products such as coconut jam, cookies, coconut oil, vinegar, charcoal briquettes, fresh “buko” juice, coco-toyo (sauce from coconut), among others.
These products were displayed for the very first Iloilo Provincial Coconut Week celebration from August 25, 2025 to August 29, 2025, with the theme: “Niyog: Puno ng buhay, isulong ng mga kaagapay para sa kaunlaran at masaganang pamumuhay.”
The products were from coconut-producing municipalities of Sara, Batad, New Lucena, and Leon.
"From coconut, maaari siyang gawin sa mga ganitong products na usually ginagamit natin sa kitchen, sa basic na living,” said Rastlen John Alismo, farmer’s welfare officer of the Philippine Coconut Authority-Iloilo Provincial Office.
