A rescued Philippine serpent eagle was released back into the wild at the Dupax Watershed Forest Reserve in Dupax del Sur, Nueva Vizcaya.

The eagle was first found weak on August 26, 2025 after straying into the grounds of a school in Dupax del Norte, where a teacher discovered it. Authorities also noted that the bird was infested with mites.

It was turned over to the Provincial Veterinary Services Office in Bayombong, which cared for the eagle until it regained its strength and good condition on September 4.

The Philippine serpent eagle is an endemic species, found only in the country. It usually lives in open wooded areas in lowland habitats.
