The Davao City Water District (DCWD) has begun implementing higher penalties against individuals found to have illegal water connections.
According to a report by GMA Super Radyo Davao, DCWD said starting October 2025, violators proven to have unauthorized pipe connections, illegal tapping of service lines, or tampering of water meters will face a penalty of P30,000.
This marks a sharp increase from the previous fine of only P5,000.
The water utility explained that the new resolution aims to intensify the crackdown on illegal connections, which are seen as a major cause of low water pressure or even lack of water supply for legitimate consumers, particularly in far-flung areas where distribution remains limited.
