Jail personnel and Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDLs) at the BJMP–Naujan District Jail in Oriental Mindoro took part in “Oplan Baha,” a flood and disaster preparedness drill held in observance of World Tsunami Awareness Day.

According to BJMP MIMAROPA spokesperson JO3 Joefrie Anglo, the activity aimed to enhance the readiness of inmates and jail staff during emergencies such as flooding and tsunamis.

It included a briefing on early warning signs, evacuation procedures, and a simulation exercise demonstrating proper safety measures during disasters.

The drill is part of the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) MIMAROPA’s strengthened Disaster Preparedness Program, which is being implemented across district, municipal, and city jails in the region.

Anglo said the initiative highlights the importance of preparedness and cooperation inside correctional facilities.

“Preparedness is everyone’s responsibility, inside and outside the jail. Through activities like this, we strengthen awareness, discipline, and resilience among our personnel and PDLs,” Anglo added.

As of November 6, 2025, the BJMP–Naujan District Jail houses 107 PDLs who continue to participate in various rehabilitation and skills development programs that promote discipline, safety, and positive transformation.
