Residents of Sitio Riverside in Barangay Embarcadero, Mangaldan said they have endured almost nightly incidents of stones being thrown at their homes for more than two weeks, leaving many families anxious and sleep-deprived.
The incidents were first reported on October 28, 2025, and several houses have since been hit by large stones.
One of the residents affected, Venus De Guzman, said the nightly disruptions have taken a heavy toll on her family.
“Gabi-gabi piniperwisyo ako. ‘Yong mga anak ko nga, hindi na makatulog, nagsisigawan na tuwing may bato,” she said.
On November 10, some residents reportedly caught several men they believed were behind the attacks. The men were brought to the barangay hall and later to the police station, where one of them allegedly admitted targeting a specific household.
Amy Pasiliao, whose home was reportedly singled out, recalled what one of the suspects told authorities.
Ang sabi niya [ng suspek], kaaway daw niya ako,” she said.
But relatives of one suspect said the accusation was unfair and lacked evidence.
She added that the accused individuals have not returned home since the incident, yet the stone-throwing continues. Barangay officials confirmed this.
“Halos gabi-gabi ‘yan hanggang ngayon pa. Kahit wala na ‘yong suspek nila at saka nahuling kasamahan niya, wala na doon, meron pa ring nambabato,” Barangay Chairman Teofilo Frianieza Jr. said.
Barangay authorities are now regularly patrolling the area and clearing tall grass and banana trees where suspects could hide. They also installed additional electrical lines to improve lighting and deter further attacks.
The Mangaldan Police Station said the conflict appears to stem from personal disputes.
Hernando Martinez, investigation officer, said.
Police and barangay officials said the investigation is ongoing as they work to identify who is responsible for the continuing attacks as of press time.
