A fire broke out in three separate places in Lapu-Lapu City on Monday, November 17, 2025.

A house in Sitio Marbeach Marigondon was razed past 5 a.m.

The Lapu-Lapu City Fire District said that an unattended kerosene lamp caused the fire.

At past 6 a.m., a fire broke out at the second floor of a building near the public market in Barangay Poblacion.

According to witnesses, the fire started at the second storey of the building used as a stock room of a pharmacy operating at the ground floor.

The fire spread quickly to a portion of the pharmacy and an adjacent bakery.

The Lapu-Lapu City Fire District has considered electrical failure as one of possible causes.

GMA Regional TV Balitang Bisdak tried to get the side of the owners of affected establishments, but they refused an interview.

Meanwhile, FO1 Vincent Rhey Reyes, investigator of the Lapu-Lapu City Fire District, admitted delay in the response as they were all gathered at the Mactan Shrine for their pictorial and monthly meeting.

The affected site is just a stone’s throw away from the Lapu-Lapu City Substation in Barangay Poblacion.

However, firefighters denied the response was slow because of the fire truck’s lack of water supply.

Further, at 10 a.m., another fire broke out at a residential area in Barangay Buaya that struck at least 30 houses.

As of this writing, investigation is ongoing to establish the cause of the fire.
